Tracking the BC SPCA's Violence Link Project. More abuse heaped on abused women

In Response To: ANIMAL WELFARE: tracking the BC SPCA's actual policies (AAS)

AAS tracked and proved that the SPCA's Violence Link Project, which it got substantial grant funding for, is nothing more than some brochures. It says that it is part of a network of groups that assist women escaping violence, and that its part is to assist those women who have pets, and who are often unable to escape the violence because there is nowhere for them to take or temporarily foster their pets.

Anyone reading the SPCA brochures would think that a network actually exists for this purpose. The other partners, when asked, say that they believe that the SPCA will foster women's pets. But in fact, the BC SPCA head office, on more than one occasion, said that it doesn't - at any branch - and that these women can surrender their pet like anyone else dumping their pet, and that there is no guarantee that the pet won't be killed.

That is not assistance, that is further abuse. That is not animal welfare, not even human welfare. Read more at http://www.animaladvocates.com/Watchdog/ViolenceLink.htm
